All done

Time to shut things down....  although I won't be posting here any further, I will keep the blog open for posterity (and information for all of you still needing Modbook info)

Seems all is not well with AXIOTRON but I wish them all the luck.  They have been amazing people to deal with.

Adios Modbook Junction..................

Too bad too hear about Axiotron possibly shutting down. I guess the iPad killed the Modbook ? (even though we know they are not really the same thing in terms of usefulness for the pro artist) .

Thanks for leaving your blog up for reference.

So, Louis, are you no longer using yours or did you just figure there's nothing else to say about what is now for all intents and purposes a discontinued item ? The one I bought for my son to use for his animation classes still works great , no complaints. Unfortunately with Axiotron apparently going out of business there will be no further development on new Modbook products (the long anticipated 'Modbook Pro' for instance) and no customer service or replacement parts from Axiotron for the existing Modbooks. I hope Other World Computing will still be able to supply parts and honor their service agreements for Modbook. My son's Modbook has a 3 year warranty from Other World Computing , not the Axitron warranty. I just worry that by the time 3 years has gone by this Modbook's 2.13 Ghz processor is going to seem kind of ancient and no possibility of an upgrade to a newer model Modbook. Oh well ...

David,

Whatever ends up happening to AXIOTRON, there is no doubt that the Modbook is one of the best devices ever created.

For three years I used mine and the rigors of the battery I subjected it to finally took its toll. I'd rather have a device that serves 100 percent of it's capability than have one that is all bells and whistles.

Logic boards have a finite life. Some outlive their usefulness and some die before their time. Mine was the latter unfortunately.

I am certain OWC will honor their warranty so should anything happen, I think you're covered. I am still holding hope that Andreas Haas and the rest of the amazingly talented people at AXIOTRON can re-emerge and resume with their innovation.

Thanks for your comment.

You are soooooo missing it. The "pro" model is now available. Well, for pre-order anyway.

Hope you start reposting...
